BE A PART OF THE MASTER MIND STUDY
The Master Mind Program Evaluation Study is being conducted by innovation Research & Training (iRT), and is funded by the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA). The goal of this project is to determine the relevance, usability, interest, and efficacy of a mindfulness education program for improving health outcomes for children.
To be eligible, participants must be either 4th or 5th grade teachers.
WHAT WILL YOU BE ASKED TO DO, IF YOU PARTICIPATE IN THIS EVALUATION?
Assist in distributing and collecting parent permission and student assent forms
Complete questionnaires  regarding participating students’ behavior in the classroom
Allow participating students to complete questionnaires and a computer task
Complete pre-training and post-training questionnaires
Participating teachers will be randomly assigned to either teach the program immediately or receive the materials at the end of the study.
Intervention teachers will:
Participate in an 8-hour web-based training to learn the program
Teach 25 Master Mind lessons over approximately five weeks to all in their class
Wait-list Control teachers will:
Receive all of the program materials at the end of the study
Participation is voluntary and participants can stop any time. Â All responses will be kept confidential
WHAT INCENTIVE Â IS THERE FOR PARTICIPATING IN THE INTERVENTION GROUP?
$25 for completing  the pre-training questionnaire
$150 for completing the online training
$25 for completing the post-training questionnaires
$25 for completing the pre-test questionnaire
$25 for completing the post-test questionnaire
$25 for completing the follow-up questionnaire about students’ grades and behavior
$5 for each fidelity checklist completed (for a total of $125 if all 25 completed)
$25 for completing the program feasibility questionnaire
WHAT INCENTIVE IS THERE FOR PARTICIPATING IN THE WAIT-LIST CONTROL GROUP?
$25 for completing the pre-test questionnaire
$25 for completing the post-test questionnaire
$25 for completing the follow-up questionnaire about students’ grades and behavior
$200 for completing the online training at the end of the study, if desired
WHAT INCENTIVES ARE THERE FOR MY STUDENTS AND SCHOOL?
Your students will receive small incentives for completing questionnaires and tasks
Your school will receive $50 for allowing us to conduct the study in the school
